You’ve expressed an approach that really resonates with me.
“Instead of force and expectation, this goal is rooted in surrender and trust. I trust that the process will generate it’s own momentum because it already has. I trust that when I focus on disciplined and consistent inputs, the outcomes will take care of themselves.”
My shots:
Game Writing/Design = Make the games I want to play.
Art = Be OK with my art and other creations—just get them out there.
Work = Ask for the position that you want (even though it doesn’t exist). Show them what it is, that it’s necessary!
Awesome! I appreciate you reading, and all of those sound like excellent shots to take. Creating what you want to see more of, sharing more of your work, and creating a lane for yourself to shine and solve problems.
Substack has given me so many gems for looking at this new year in a different light, this piece included. I am going to take more shots! (This might of been intended to be a sports reference, I don't know, but I am singing it in the voice of Lin Manuel Miranda.)
I've just started to make art again, and I tend to get very goal oriented very quickly. This reminder to focus on the process was much needed. Thank you!
I'll take the inspiration and will take more shots on getting my art out there.
I needed to read this. One of the shots I’m taking this year is doing 15 open mics to practice reciting my poetry in front of an audience. Like you said it’s not about the outcome it’s taking a shot and connecting with others and myself. There’s so much power in connection.
Beautiful! I love art journals, you can really see all your progress and development over time. And you can always decide to share it later if you see a valuable narrative forming.
Corey, thank you for your wisdom. I appreciate these words. I told myself, I will practice publicly, and put together some music and art to share. I feel you on putting down the metrics, just show up, connect, do the work. Take more shots. Love it. Happy New Year, New Growth.
I needed to hear this!

It's about to be a great year.

Excellent! More shots means more opportunity to reach the people we can serve. Thanks for reading.
Yes, I love that!

Beautiful! Thank you for reading and don’t forget to tag me when you take your next shot.
This is everything. Thank you for your energy! Excited to see your work in 2025!! 🙏🏾💫💙
Thank you for reading, and for the question! It really made me think and inspired me to write that post. This is why community is so important.
Definitely looking forward to growing together here.
No problem. We look forward to building and ARTing with you.

Niceness! 15 open mics is a great shot to take, these are the things that transform the creator and the creations.
I appreciate you reading, looking forward to those open mic updates!
I’m taking more shots by keep a collagey art journal, a non-public way to play with colour, imagery and emotion.

A sniper will take shots to center his aim. Every shot allows you to dial in on the target.
Facts! Every shot counts. You don’t become a good sniper by waiting for the perfect moment and visualizing how good you’ll be.
You gotta spend a lot of rounds at the range.
