I have personally enjoyed one of these Seminole pumpkins- I had just moved back home to Dunedin Florida from a fire drenched Los Angeles - feeling misplaced and nomadic - Corey brought one of these over to my aunt and uncles house. About a month later once it ripened my aunt roasted it with olive oil and orange peel. Made me feel at home / so inspired by you and your family brother. What a blessing to learn from you and your land by proxy.
My wife said something pretty funny because of you. I told her about permaculture and no till gardening the Back to Eden way and she replied, "So we're going full hillbilly." Don't mind if I do.
"the whole thing ripens together and they don’t wait for you to figure it out."
Wondering too if you have used plantains for mofongo (Puerto Rican). Also , green plantain poridge-Jamaiacan style ( to use some green ones before waiing for all of them to turn yellow/blackish).
In strong blender: raw peanuts, slices of green plantain skin and all, coconut milk or other cook d add sweetner, spices (cinnamon, nutmeg vanilla whatever). Wait til it thickens. Can add cornmeal flour too if you want.
It takes a really Hefty blender to get through the green skin. And it takes a while to blend it all up rich in iron and it will turn colors to the more irony color as it oxidizes. It's really cool to watch all the colors and it is yum yum
"Surplus is not an accident in nature. It’s the design. The default frequency. Overflow and regeneration are part of the system. Nothing is wasted because the “waste” is the point."
I had a soil professor talk about something similar in reference to precision industrial agriculture- using exactly the amount of inputs to feed your crop with no "waste" is economic logic, not ecological. I wish I remember the back-and-forth better, but the class was discussing what values hide behind the word "efficiency".
Kinda found my jam here! I'm in AZ and do about 175 lb. of sweet potatoes a year. Lots of give away! wish we had the humidity for plantain, but we are high and dry here in Cornville, AZ. I've had a similar epiphany, but the way you have articulated it is helping me be more mindful about the applicability of the lesson. Thanks!
🙌🏽 dope, really insightful and timely fam. Blessings to you. The whole bit about “waste“ and its function in the cycle of life 👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽, and when you were talking about the squash riding out in the areas of the garden, you guys didn’t visit, and how the bugs and microorganisms were eating, I thought about how the same squash you eating at your table you’re sharing with the land. Like, when I eat we all eat 🙏🏽. This was a really dope read.
Much appreciated! This garden is really lending itself to so many aspects of my life right now. The writing, the art, even the music. Permaculture inspired lyrics are creeping into all my verses lol.
I’m just gonna lean into it and see where it takes me. Thanks for reading.
Im excited what comes out on all areas esp the music fam. I genuinely think some of the best writing, especially when we use metaphorical language, comes from our direct experience with those things. Hence, why they’re in the group chat couple months back I was very curious as to how chickens and roosters really behave in order to understand the three poisons and how a rooster‘s behavior represents greed.
Thank you for writing about your discoveries, Nature, abundance and your insights. So good!
Here in our temperate climate I planted 20 strawberry plants two years ago. They are now crawling all over the veggie garden as ground cover, and after the first couple of harvest bounties and bellies full of sun-warm, juicy, fragrant strawberries I've arrived at the same Abundance Equation; tossing the over ripe ones to the chicken, picking silly amounts to eat, dry, bake and to give away. Nature is Abundant by design. What a fantastically joyous design!
It seems so obvious once you actually experience it. It’s showing us exactly what to do and how to be.
The work is stepping out of the fear and learning how to apply this model to our own lives. Definitely not easy work, but always exciting and rewarding.

Gratitude brother! Always happy to share and be of service in any way possible. This garden asks for very little and teaches me a whole lot.
My work is to return that favor every chance I get. Thanks for reading.
It is so exciting to hear what you do and what it’s teaching the rest of us through you. A great teacher I knew for only a short time told me:
“Holy people share their food and their knowledge. Beware of anyone who hoards either of these things.”
My wife said something pretty funny because of you. I told her about permaculture and no till gardening the Back to Eden way and she replied, "So we're going full hillbilly." Don't mind if I do.
LOL! Full hillbilly don’t seem so bad these days.
'going full hillbilly' sounds like the perfect slogan for these times 👌🏻
No freaking kiddin’ grilfren. Like I told Corey, “Don’t mind if I do!”
It’s officially a movement now lol
Corey's on bass, Nina's on fiddle...I'll make up some lyrics just to save face
Loved this article and this:

Haven’t tried either of those but I think I need to! Next harvest I’ll give it a shot.

Thank you for your beautiful article!
It is definitely fascinating to see how nature works as opposed to the systems we build around it to extract value.
I appreciate you reading!

I’m intending to have a fun conversation with you on my Vlog: Conversations with Goddess Renata
Do you do zoom?
Thank you for reading! And yes, I do hop on an occasional zoom call. Just drop me a message and we can try to line something up.
You made some excellent points. This society encourages monetization of everything. I haven’t yet reached an abundance perspective, but I’m trying!
Also wish I had a year-round perma garden.
